Former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry Death News

Former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry has died in a car accident.

Cyrus P. Mistry, a leading businessman and former chairman of the Tata Group, died Sunday in a road accident near Palgarh, Maharashtra.

His car crashed into a partition in the Palgarh district of Maharashtra, which borders Mumbai, a police official said.

Mistry traveled from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Mercedes car, he said. The accident occurred on a bridge over the Surya River. 

Police say it appears to have been an accident.

Two of the four people in the vehicle were killed, including Mistry.

"Initial investigations revealed that the drivers had lost control of their vehicles. Two people have died and the other two are hospitalized.

The accident occurred around 15:15 while Mistry was traveling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. The accident occurred on a bridge over the Surya River.

All injured have been transferred to hospitals in Gujarat.
